For our Garmin watch faces

One number for your whole day.

The FITT Score combines how much you moved, how intense you were, how stressed you are and how well you have recovered into a single score from 0 to 100 – right on your watch face.

What goes into it

Four parts of a healthy day

Moving more is only half of fitness. The FITT Score balances activity with stress and recovery, and it uses your own goals from Garmin Connect.

30%

Steps

Your steps today towards your personal step goal. Full points when you reach the goal.

Garmin step goal (10,000 if none is set)
30%

Intensity minutes

Full points when you reach today's share of your weekly goal – or when you have already reached the weekly goal, so a big workout earlier in the week still counts.

Garmin intensity minutes (vigorous minutes count double)
20%

Stress

Your average stress over the last 3 hours. Lower stress means more points. Averaging keeps the score calm instead of jumping with every reading.

Garmin stress level (0–100)
20%

Recovery

How charged and recovered you are: your Body Battery and your remaining recovery time, averaged when your watch has both.

Body Battery and recovery time (up to 96 h)
How it is calculated

The formula

Each part becomes a value between 0 and 1 (0–100%), is weighted, and the result is scaled to 0–100.

FITT = Steps × 30+ Intensity × 30+ (1 − Stress) × 20+ Recovery × 20
Capped at 100%Going past a goal does not add extra points, so one huge day cannot hide a lack of rest.
Fair on every watchIf your watch has no data for a part (for example no recovery time), that part is left out and the other weights are scaled up. No free points, no penalty.
Saves batteryThe score changes slowly, so the watch face recalculates it about once a minute.

Questions

FAQ

Why is my score low in the morning?

Steps and intensity minutes start from zero every day at midnight, so the score naturally grows as your day goes on. Stress and recovery are counted from the start, so a well-rested morning already gives you a good base.

Does it adapt to my personal goals?

Yes. The FITT Score uses the step goal and the weekly intensity minutes goal from your Garmin Connect profile. Change your goals there and the score follows.

My watch has no recovery time or Body Battery. Is my score lower?

No. Parts your watch cannot measure are left out and the remaining parts are weighted up, so your score is still out of 100 and comparable from day to day.

How often does it update?

About once a minute. The values it uses change slowly, and recalculating less often saves battery.

Why does a workout lower my recovery points?

A hard workout drains your Body Battery and adds recovery time. That is intended: the FITT Score rewards training and rest, not just training. The activity parts of the score go up at the same time.

Is the FITT Score a medical measurement?

No. It is a motivational summary of the data your Garmin watch already measures, meant to help you build balanced daily habits.
